OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There’s often an element of throwing in some lovely names, and then figuring it out later, but I’ve always had a sort of plan for the Doctor and Trenzalore….Things will be resolved. Things I’ve left hanging in plain sight – and sometimes not in plain sight – will be tied up.

Look for the full interview in issue # 460.

NIGHTMARE IN SILVER

The BBC has released a synopsis for Neil Gaiman’s Nightmare In Silver.

nightmare-poster-2

Hedgewick’s World of Wonders was once the greatest theme park in the galaxy, but it’s now the dilapidated home to a shabby showman, a chess-playing dwarf and a dysfunctional army platoon. When the Doctor, Clara, Artie and Angie arrive, the last thing they expect is the re-emergence of one of the Doctor’s oldest foes. The Cybermen are back!

Nightmare In Silver airs on May 11th.

BARROWMAN AND KINGSTON SIDE BY SIDE

If it happens it has all the potential to be one of the greatest buddy adventures ever. Alex Kingston and John Barrowman are itching to work together as River and Captain Jack.

Barrowman recently talked up the idea of a River/Jack sitcom with TV Addict.

Actually, the first time Alex and I met each other was at Cameron Mackintosh’s house in London, the theater producer. He was celebrating his 25th anniversary to his partner and we were there and bumped into each other. We didn’t even say anything, we just looked at each other and went, “Aaaaaahhh! My god!”  We got a glass of champagne and started talking about how it would be great if River and Jack, actually, she said River and Jack should have their own TV show. Then as we talked more, we realized that we’re both born on the same day.  We’re both March 11th babies and we have so much in common.  We like a lot of the same things and our attitude towards stuff is very, very similar. It struck a chord with us because that’s why River and Jack are very similar characters, in their attitude and their fun and their aggression, we are the same in real life, which is really ironic.  So we struck it off. Then she came on Arrow, again we saw each other in the makeup trailer and just screamed. We both said, “Boy, there’s going to be some fan-gasms out there in a couple of weeks!”  It was brilliant.

In the interview he also discussed the state of Torchwood.

BARROWMAN ON 50TH ANNIVERSARY

John Barrowman had some candid remarks about his noninvolvement in the 5oth Anniversary special in an interview with TV Line. He is not a happy camper.

BBC#01285

People have tried to say it’s my schedule; it’s absolutely not,” he insists. ”I was told by the producers of Arrow that if I was asked to do the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who they’d let me go and do it. It was nothing to do with my schedule. It’s just a matter of fact that I wasn’t asked.

I understand why they did it. They want to move forward, they want to try some different things… I know from how  Russell approached things, they’re not doing it just for the über fan; they’re doing it for the wider audience. And if they’re going to bring a character back it wouldn’t be just for the über fan, it would be for everybody. So perhaps that’s the thinking they had. I don’t know.

In the interview she talked about creating the character and developing a relationship with William Hartnell.

Bill and I put together a back story because we had to. You can’t act something unless you know what is behind it. We created the fact that he had done something to annoy the other Time Lords and they decided he had to go.
